THE BAHIA RESORT HOTEL EARNS
HIGHEST STATUS IN CALIFORNIA GREEN LODGING PROGRAM
State of California Awards Green Lodging Leadership Level Status
to Mission Bay's Bahia Resort Hotel
SAN DIEGO, California
(October 2009) - The Bahia
Resort Hotel is dedicated
to protecting the environment and has earned the Leadership
Level status from the California Green Lodging Program,
which recognizes efforts by the California hospitality industry
to minimize waste, conserve energy and protect natural resources.
"Because we are
so close to the natural beauty of Mission
Bay and the Pacific
Ocean, we feel a special
obligation to make a commitment to our environment," said
General Manager Jim Greene "We're very proud to share this
honor with our sister property The Catamaran Resort Hotel
and Spa, owned and operated by Evans Hotels who strive for
a Greener community."
The California Green
Lodging Program was developed to steer "green travelers"
to eco-friendly hotels and resorts. The Bahia Resort Hotel
earned the Leadership Level status by keeping a written
environmental policy and by meeting all seven of the program's
criteria: waste minimization, reuse/recycling, energy efficiency,
conservation and management, waste management, freshwater
resource management, hazardous materials management, plus
environmentally and socially sensitive purchasing policies.
The
Bahia Resort Hotel's dedication to support the wellness
of the State of California "We care about the environment
and our carbon footprint," Greene said.
The Bahia Resort Hotel
offers seclusion on a 14-acre
peninsula, surrounded with sun-drenched luxury in a year-round
Mediterranean climate and is impeccably located on the beaches
of Mission Bay and steps from the Pacific Ocean. The
Bahia Resort Hotel is owned
and operated by Evans Hotels, including the Catamaran Resort
Hotel and Spa on Mission Bay and The Lodge at Torrey Pines
in La Jolla. For more information, contact please contact
