Mission Beach, visible across Mission Bay from the Bahia, is home to Belmont Park

Belmont Park

A New Kind of Boardwalk

Located on Mission Beach’s oceanfront is the historic amusement center Belmont Park, founded in 1925. The original wooden roller coaster, the Giant Dipper, still stands and operates there today. The amusement park also features some more contemporary attractions like a Tilt-A-Whirl, a three-story drop tower (the “Vertical Plunge”), Pirates of Belmont Arcade and Mini-Golf, the Liberty Carousel, and much more.

Another historic structure at Belmont is The Plunge, the park’s original family-friendly indoor swimming pool where hundreds of thousands of locals have learned to swim. The Plunge is currently owned and operated by Wave House, which sits on the ocean side of the Park and features two artificial waves that patrons and professionals alike can ride. Try to ride the wave on the smaller sheet wave called FlowRider, or try your hand at the larger FlowBarrel dubbed Bruticus Maximus.

Belmont Park lies just a short walk from our Mission Bay hotel.
