Policies & Emergency Procedures

Non Smoking

The Bahia is committed to providing its guests and associates with a smoke-free environment. Our resort and all of our guest rooms are non-smoking. There will be a $250 cleaning fee for those who choose not to follow the no smoking policy. This policy also applies to electronic smoking devices such as e-cigarettes. The Bahia reserves the right to charge any guest who violates the smoking policy the premium room rate for each night the room is deemed not rentable due to the scent of smoke.

Parking

Guests are permitted to park one vehicle on hotel property. Guests are encouraged to park in the parking space that is nearest their room location. All guest vehicles must have a valid parking permit visible in the front window. The Rear Property Gate is closed and locked nightly from 6:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The East Gate is secured nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Secondary vehicles may park on Gleason Road or Ventura Cove. Be sure to follow all city signage to avoid parking tickets.

Quiet Hours

To assure our guests enjoy a peaceful environment, we have a “zero noise policy” effective at 10:00 p.m. If you or your guests cause an unreasonable disturbance to others before 10:00 p.m., one warning will be given to you to reduce noise. If this warning is not followed or the disturbance occurs after 10:00 p.m., you will forfeit all advance deposits and must leave the hotel immediately. The Bahia reserves the right to evict a guest without warning if the circumstances warrant. Additionally, guests are liable for all damage to or theft of the property of the Bahia. Your participation is appreciated as it helps assure a safe and restful stay for everyone.

Room Occupancy

The maximum room occupancy is set at 6 persons (effective 24 hours). All guests must be registered to the room and no non-registered guests allowed in rooms at any time. No gatherings are permitted at the hotel, either in the room or outside of it (patio, grass area, etc.) Guests may be charged an additional amount per room night for each additional person over the standard room occupancy. Children 17 years and under may share the same room with their parents at no additional charge (up to a maximum of four children, subject to room type). The number of additional guests/room above double occupancy is subject to maximum occupancy limits and safety rules set by the Bahia.

In Case of Fire:

  • Remain calm.
  • If you detect a fire, notify Security ext. 55 or call (858) 539-7686. of the location of the fire. Pull the nearest alarm station. Alert fellow guests. Take your room key and go to a safe location. USE the stairway for exit. DO NOT use the elevator.
  • If alerted to a fire, determine if it is safe to vacate by looking through the door viewer. If fire and smoke conditions are reasonable, take your room key in the event your exit is compromised. Close the door behind you. Walk or crawl to an exit. DO NOT use elevators.
  • If conditions require you to stay in your guest room, for extinguishing and wetting purposes, fill the bathtub or other containers with water. Prevent fumes from entering your room through vents and openings and under doors by plugging them with wet wash cloths. Alert staff authorities to your location. If there is smoke in the room, stay low and hold a wet cloth in front of your mouth. Don’t break any windows unless absolutely necessary - you may cause smoke or fire to enter the room.

In Case of Earthquake:

  • If you are indoors, stand in a corner, doorway, or under a sturdy table. Hold the position until the ground stops shaking and it is safe to move. Stay clear of glass and outside walls. Do not rush outside. Do not use elevators. Use the stairs in an orderly manner only after the shaking stops.
  • If you are outside, get into the open, away from buildings and power lines.
  • Stay calm and encourage others to do so.
  • Do not use elevators. Use the stairs in an orderly manner. This again is only after the shaking stops.
  • Check for injuries.
  • Check for other potential risks such as fallen items in closets.
  • Check that the telephone is on its receiver. Do not use your telephone except for an emergency.
  • Do not operate electrical switches or appliances, including telephones, if you suspect a gas leak.
  • Do not go sightseeing afterwards, especially in beach and waterfront areas where seismic waves could strike.
  • Keep street clear for emergency vehicles.
  • Be prepared for aftershocks. Most of these are smaller than the main quake, but some may be large enough to do additional damage.
